March 19 , 2012Northbrook, IL – Easter is one of the most important holidays celebrated in America according to Rasmussen Reports, which found that 44% of survey respondents thought it was the most important holiday. Retailers too consider Easter one of the biggest holidays for the nation. Last year the total spending on Easter related merchandise was expected to reach around $14.6 billion, according to a study by the National Retail Federation.
While the average adult U.S. consumer was expected to spend $131.04 on Easter supplies (ranging from candy to clothes) in 2011, the study also found that discount stores were one of the most popular destinations for Easter shopping. According to the survey, 62.6% of respondents said that they planned to shop at discount stores for their Easter necessities.
