Fun Times at Prime
The Prime Publishing staff is always hard at work finding the best recipes and crafts for our readers. Whether we’re trying out a new recipe in our Test Kitchen, creating an eBook, or sending free eNewsletters to our subscribers, there’s never a dull moment! And in a creative office like Prime Publishing, we think it’s important to make time for an extra dose of fun!
On June 8th, 2016, our staff took a break and enjoyed an afternoon of good food and a few games of Whirlyball. Whirlyball is a combination of lacrosse and basketball… played on bumper cars. Yes, it is just as silly as it sounds, but a whole lot of fun!
“WhirlyBall was a blast! Watching coworkers try to navigate the bumper cars around the court was very entertaining. Plus, this event allowed both new and old employees to get to know one another outside of the office,” said Editor Beth Ann Morley.
Summertime at Prime is always an exciting season because we have a wonderful internship program. Social events like our Whirlyball outing are a great way to welcome the new faces to our editorial, marketing, and creative departments. Plus, we like to show our appreciation to staff and interns for all of their dedication and hard work each week.
“This was the best social work gathering I’ve attended! It was great to just mingle with everyone and relax. I caught up with some old friends, but I found I also spent a lot of time talking to folks I haven’t been able to get to know before. With the office and staff growing, this was the perfect way to finally get everyone together,” said Editorial Operations Editor Bridget Herbig.
Since each game of Whirlyball lasts for ten minutes, everyone had the opportunity to play. While a game was in session, the rest of the company could watch their coworkers compete, play a game of pool, or chat as they enjoyed drinks, pizza, and a variety of fun appetizers like sliders, pretzel bites, and mini tacos.
“Being able to take a little break from work and have fun as a company was a much-appreciated morale boost… and getting to relieve a little stress with bumper cars didn’t hurt, either! These events give everyone the chance to talk to people they don’t work with every day, which helps forge friendships and strengthen work relationships,” said Editor Julia Wiatr.
