Prime Publishing LLC Completes Successful Oven Mitt Charity Drive
June 27 , 2016Northbook, IL – This winter, two Prime Publishing LLC blogs, Seams and Scissors and Recipe Chatter, joined forces to collect and create oven mitts for the Love & Oven Mitts Charity Drive. From February 22 to March 25, 2016, Prime Publishing LLC collected handmade or gently used oven mitts from our readers nationally.
These were then donated to the Love & Oven Mitts Charity Drive, run by Love INC of Lake County, Illinois. With a generous donation of materials from Fairfield World, Prime Publishing editors were able to sew their own handmade oven mitts to include in the donation.
Once collected, these oven mitts were added to a Household Starter Kit, a box put together by Love INC of Lake County for families who are moving into a new home, often transitioning from homelessness, fleeing an abusive environment, or other displacement. In total, Prime collected almost 100 oven mitts.
This charity drive was unique in uniting Prime Publishing’s niche craft and food charities for a good cause. Donating oven mitts and potholders gave both our foodie readers and our crafty readers the opportunity to donate. We had foodies donate new and gently used items, while our crafters donated beautiful handmade items.
