Sixty-Three Percent of Surveyed Slow Cooker Fans Use Their Slow Cookers All Year Long

Northbrook, IL – In a recent survey conducted by AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes.com, we found that 63.7 percent of readers surveyed said they use their slow cooker all year long, not just during one particular season. Thirty-four percent said they used their slow cookers most during the winter, and about 20 percent said they use their slow cookers most during the fall season. The survey was taken by subscribers of The Slow Cooker Chronicle and was conducted for two weeks.

The survey included questions on how readers engage with our newsletters, and also asked readers about their slow cooking habits. As we head into November, it was interesting to find that of all the major holidays, our readers use their slow cookers most for Thanksgiving, with Christmas coming in a close second. Throughout the year, 12 percent of those surveyed use their slow cookers three to four times a week, and 21 percent use their slow cookers twice a week. It should be no surprise that over 57 percent of those surveyed consider themselves to be intermediate-level cooks!

When we asked readers which ingredient, from a list of 13, was their favorite to incorporate in their cooking, 89 percent of those surveyed chose chicken. That said, when we asked readers what was the quirkiest way they’ve ever cooked with their slow cookers, they had some wild slow cooker uses, including using their slow cookers to make tie dye, soap, to melt wax for candles, to thaw auto parts, to prepare dog food, to germinate plant seeds, to make cold medicine, to heat stones for a back massage, and more! Some respondents erred more on the side of traditional. One respondent noted, “I found baking a cake in the crock pot so foreign, until I did it and now I barely use my oven for such things as cakes.”

You’ll find many slow cooker “baking” ideas on AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes.com, along with hundreds of other easy cooking ideas. We advise you to wash your slow cooker or keep a separate one in the house if you’re going to try cooking up inedible items, such as auto parts in your crock!

At AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes.com, we encourage you to get as creative as you can when using your slow cooker. We’re here to help you cook up delicious creations. We want to thank all of those folks who participated in our survey. We will use the results from this survey to improve our Web site and newsletter, The Slow Cooker Chronicle. We always welcome your feedback.

Celebrate Thanksgiving With Homemade Desserts

Northbrook, IL – Making homemade desserts, especially pies, is a time-honored tradition in many U.S. households during the Thanksgiving holiday.  Perhaps the most iconic of all Thanksgiving desserts is the pumpkin pie.  In fact, according to a November 2011 Forbes article, more than 50 million pies are baked every year using Libby’s brand canned pumpkin, which controls 85% of the U.S. pumpkin crops for canning. That’s a lot of pumpkin pies.

Noting this craving for pumpkin pies among Americans, the editors of RecipeLion.com have put together a new, free eCookbook of Thanksgiving desserts. In addition to the recipe for Easy Pumpkin Pie, this holiday recipe collection also includes instructions for other iconic Thanksgiving treats like apple strudel, sweet potato pie, apple pie, pecan pie and more. The Best Desserts for Thanksgiving: 11 Sweet Recipes for the Fall is available for free download on the RecipeLion.com website.

Thanksgiving is America’s most universally celebrated holiday with the vast majority of respondents in a 2004 Ohio University Scripps Survey saying they plan to honor the holiday in some way.  Only 13% of survey respondents said they did not plan to have a special gathering for a Thanksgiving meal. Additionally, according to the survey, 86% of respondents said they “look forward to Thanksgiving.”

With such positive feelings towards the holiday and a majority of U.S. households celebrating Thanksgiving in some manner, the new Thanksgiving desserts eCookbook from RecipeLion.com could not have come at a better time. For those looking to make their own desserts for the holiday this November, the easy recipes in the collection of The Best Desserts for Thanksgiving: 11 Sweet Recipes for the Fall are perfect and convenient.

Save Time Baking with the Cake Mix Recipes in this New eCookbook

Northbrook, IL — With busy schedules and ever-increasing commitments, people are more pressed for time than ever before. One of the places that time crunch is felt most is in the kitchen, where home cooks are looking for ways to speed up their meal preparation and get dinner on the table in the most time efficient manner.  Luckily, the editors of RecipeLion.com recognize that need for efficiency and have prepared a collection of quick and easy dessert recipes. The new eCookbook, 24 Effortless Recipes with Cake Mix, features a variety of simple yet delicious sweets that can be whipped up quickly with the aid of a handy boxed cake mix.

According to a 2010 study conducted by Harris Interactive, 75% of people who prepare meals at home said that they often used pre-prepared and/or frozen ingredients to speed up the cooking process. Furthermore, another study found that of the 70% of households that regularly cook at home, the majority of them claimed a heavy reliance on “convenience foods.” The study, which was conducted by UCLA’s Center on Everyday Lives for Families, noted that these households most often used mixes and pre-packaged ingredients to cut corners and save time in their cooking.

Recognizing this need for “convenience cooking” recipes, the editors of RecipeLion.com created a handy collection of easy-to-make dishes that feature cake mix as one of the star ingredients. In the free eCookbook, 24 Effortless Recipes with Cake Mix, readers will find plenty of quick and simple dessert recipes that will save them time in the kitchen. Included in the mouthwatering collection are recipes for chocolate cakes, fruity cakes, cookies, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls and brownies. Discover reader-favorite recipes like Triple Chocolate Pudding Cake (pg. 6), Lemonade Party Cake (pg. 17), Classic Pineapple Upside Down Cake (pg. 20), Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls (pg. 28) and Pound Cake Cookies (pg. 26), all of which will make baking a breeze!
