Content Publishers Preferred Over Facebook
December 11 , 2012Northbrook, IL — A new study released by the Online Publisher’s Association reveals that 47% of marketers still prefer advertising through content publishers over Facebook. The study, which surveyed 251 marketing and advertising agencies this past August, reported higher levels of satisfaction with content publishers over Facebook, 78% satisfaction versus 51% satisfaction, respectively.
According to an article released by the media company FOLIO, advertisers’ satisfaction can be traced back to a few areas in particular which saw content publishing pulling ahead. Content publishers excelled in offering an ideal ad-viewing platform (59% versus 42%), attracting the audience’s attention (63% versus 29%), offering brand safety (71% versus 36%), and offering the best creative options for ad campaigns focused on the brand itself (64% versus 26%).
According to Pam Horan, president of the Online Publisher’s Association, “There is a brand halo that exists by having their brand messages on premium content sites over all different types of environments, from social media, ad networks and portals. Marketers really do value having their brands associated with other strong brands.”
The findings of this study demonstrate the continued longevity and reliability of content publishers, even when pitted head-to-head against swiftly growing social media platforms. For the highest value in brand advertising, marketers still prefer advertising through content publishing outlets to help build their brand.
