Prime Publishing LLC Completes Successful Oven Mitt Charity Drive

Northbook, IL – This winter, two Prime Publishing LLC blogs, Seams and Scissors and Recipe Chatter, joined forces to collect and create oven mitts for the Love & Oven Mitts Charity Drive. From February 22 to March 25, 2016, Prime Publishing LLC collected handmade or gently used oven mitts from our readers nationally.

These were then donated to the Love & Oven Mitts Charity Drive, run by Love INC of Lake County, Illinois. With a generous donation of materials from Fairfield World, Prime Publishing editors were able to sew their own handmade oven mitts to include in the donation.

Once collected, these oven mitts were added to a Household Starter Kit, a box put together by Love INC of Lake County for families who are moving into a new home, often transitioning from homelessness, fleeing an abusive environment, or other displacement. In total, Prime collected almost 100 oven mitts.

This charity drive was unique in uniting Prime Publishing’s niche craft and food charities for a good cause. Donating oven mitts and potholders gave both our foodie readers and our crafty readers the opportunity to donate. We had foodies donate new and gently used items, while our crafters donated beautiful handmade items.

RecipeLion Test Kitchen Chef Featured on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen

NORTHBROOK, IL – Prime Publishing LLC is proud to announce that our Executive Producer, Adia Benson, is headed to the Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen to compete for a second time. After winning the Electric Boo-Galoo Halloween special challenge in the 12th season of Cutthroat Kitchen, Benson will be returning for a second appearance this June, challenging 15 other previous Cutthroat Kitchen winners. Benson is one of the in-house featured RecipeLion Test Kitchen chefs, as well as the Executive Producer of all video content at Prime Publishing LLC.

In an interview with the Prime Publishing LLC foodie blog, RecipeChatter, Benson made note of the change in environment from one season to the next, explaining that contending with other past champs came with its own set of hurdles. “It’s intimidating meeting the other winners, because going into a show like this as a winner, you have a sense of pride and accomplishment and do not want to lose, but everyone feels this way.”

The challenges for this season were all dreamed up around the Time Warp theme. This theme aims to put the contenders at odds with “all the pressures of a modern Cutthroat Kitchen contest, but in a setting that’s anything but contemporary.”

Benson’s episode will air on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 on the Food Network. Her recipes can be found on RecipeLion.com, on the RecipeLion YouTube channel, as well as on our Facebook Page.
