Prime Publishing Helps Celebrate I Love Yarn Day

Northbrook, IL – Prime Publishing is excited to help celebrate this year’s I Love Yarn Day (ILYD). The celebrations showing off our love for yarn started on Sunday, October 6th. For an entire week, our yarn blog Stitch & Unwind is participating in the national event by posting new knitting and crochet patterns each day. There is also a chance to enter the “Show Us Your Stash” contest for an opportunity to win a massive prize pack full of goodies including free yarn, crochet and knit books, crochet thread, and more.  Our yarn sites (AllFreeCrochet, AllFreeKnitting, AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns, and FaveCrafts) are celebrating through daily Facebook giveaways and social media promotions, including an ILYD 2013 Pinterest board.

ILYD is now in its third year, and keeps getting bigger and better every year. It originally started as a viral campaign to simply show one’s love of yarn. It takes place on the second Friday in October, and it has become a huge success in the past few years thanks to the continued support of the Craft Yarn Council and the campaign’s ever-growing social media presence. In 2012, the ILYD Facebook fan page went from 2,550 to 10,560 “likes” and ILYD became a trending topic on Twitter. Currently, the ILYD Facebook page has more than 17,000 likes on Facebook and the numbers continue to grow.

Check out the celebrations on the Stitch & Unwind blog right here. Plus, there’s plenty of time to enter the “Show Us Your Stash” giveaway. The contest ends October 12, 2013. Be sure to also “LIKE” the I Love Yarn Day Facebook page, too!

Introducing: AllFreePaperCrafts.com

Northbrook, IL – Preserving memories in the form of paper crafting is a popular and growing hobby. As photography becomes more and more digital, people seek a tangible and physical way to display their treasured memories. The range of craft projects available is expansive. From journals to scrapbooks to the recently-popular pocket page albums and more, paper crafting is the best way to creatively archive treasured memories. In order to provide paper crafting ideas in one collective location, Prime Publishing LLC is pleased to announce their brand new website, AllFreePaperCrafts.com.

According to the Craft and Hobby Association, the State of the Craft Industry report found that 56 percent of U.S. households or 62.5 million people participated in one or more crafting activities during the last year. Within that group, 27% participated in paper and memory crafts. With over ¼ of the crafting population devoting their energies to paper crafting, Prime Publishing LLC saw a demand for crafting projects that had not been met by their 19 established cooking and crafting websites. AllFreePaperCrafts.com seeks to provide the best paper projects from across the web to its readers through its website, free newsletters, and social media.

In the same survey conducted by the Craft and Hobby Association, it was found that the top reason for starting a new craft project is to give a unique gift. Scrapbooks, journals, and photo albums fall into this category, as each respective handmade book is personalized to the loved one receiving the gift. Readers can learn rubber stamping techniques, scrapbooking layouts, many types of embellishments, and even book binding styles to make paper craft gifts from start to finish. Paper crafting is the best hobby to preserve memories, and with AllFreePaperCrafts.com, readers will find all of the paper crafts they will need.

61.5% of surveyed subscribers look for crafts that are inexpensive
37% are looking for projects for their grandkids
34.6% look for crafts that involve paint
People prefer paper crafts to any other type of craft projects

Just for fun: 39.4% of readers ate craft materials at one point in their childhood. Their reasoning: children are curious!

When asked if they could be a kid again what age they would be, the most popular answer was 10 years old. Readers prefer this age because you can complete craft projects by yourself, but you still don’t have the responsibilities or issues of being a teen or adult!
